Cisco’s floral paintings express a vibrant and dynamic sense of visual irony, where colour composition at once compliment and contradict on the canvas.
In his Ikebana paintings, tangled branches are dripped and pushed into place, punctuated by bursts of vibrant colour and random shapes floating freely on a backdrop of mottled layers affecting a sense of peace and calm.
Similarly, with his brilliant field flower paintings that, at first, seem to be an explosion of shapes and colour with no space or time when, suddenly, the viewer is drawn toward a single flower caught in the joyful moment of “bloom.”
With all of Cisco’s contradictions, the common thread is the sense of joy and playfulness.
